Food Storage Guide
[shareaholic app="share_buttons" id="27983777"]Since it can be hard remembering the proper way to store produce, we’ve created a Food Storage Guide!
Did did you know a lot of foods produce ethylene, a natural plant hormone that is released as a gas? It causes some foods that are sensitive, like a lot of salad greens, to whither or fruits like avocados to ripen too quickly. Always be sure to store fruits and vegetables separately.
Foods that produce ethylene:
Apples, apricots, avocados, bananas (ripe), blueberries, cantaloupe, cranberries, green onions, guavas, grapes, kiwis, mangoes, nectarines, passion fruit, peaches, pears, persimmons, plums, potatoes, prunes, and tomatoes.
Foods sensitive to ethylene:
Asparagus, unripe bananas, blackberries, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chard, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, green beans, kale, leafy greens, lettuce, onions, parsley, peas, peppers, raspberries, spinach, squash, strawberries, sweet potatoes, and watermelon.
